The Purple Unicorn

My Daughter Abby just turned 6 years old. All she wanted was a purple unicorn party with an unicorn cake.

I must say this has to be one of the hardest cakes to date for me. I started with a two layer 9in round pan. I mixed the batter with food coloring so when she cut the cake it was a rainbow inside and man she and her friends loved that.

Then for the Unicorn it self I used a loaf pan and cut both sides off and one corner. the corner i used as the head. on side I used as the tail and the last side I used to cut out legs.

I covered it in my butter cream icing, which was a big hit. I will say tho, I need to work with it some more to find out ways to make it smooth, but for this cake. Smooth was not the goal. I wanted it to look like fur.

Oh, one more thing. I was pipping the ears and noticed I forgot ears, but No one noticed it at all.

Mushroom Garden

This Little cake is a carrot cake with cream cheese icing. I did the piping and vines in Wilton teal. Then I covered the top with green edible glitter. I did not flatten the top or smooth it completely, I was going for a meadow look. I then made Meringue Mushrooms to put on the top. Here's how you can learn to make them. They are cute and so so yummy! http://candy.about.com/od/candybasics/ss/mushroom_sbs.htm

This Cake was for a good friends Birthday. She loved it and can't wait to see what else I can come up with.

Neon Green and Hot Pink Star

This neon star was made for someone who loves glitter! It is also the first cake I have made with homemade butter cream icing. It is a little different to work with but taste so much better them my other. The green I used neon green food coloring and for the pink I used neon pink. On the top inside the pipeing I used edable glitter that I found at Micheals.
Around the base I did really big rosets with my 1M tip. I learned this at my first Denton Cake Club meeting and had to try it out.
